With the blessings and wishes of sri sri sri kanchi mahaswamigal we under the forum of alaya kainkarya sath sangam, functioning at flat 4 subhiksham no 8 bank of india colony, ashok nagar chennai 600 0083, under taken the renovation of the ancient temple called sri visalakshi ambal sametha sri viswanatheeswarar temple at kalpoondi village. Kalpoondi is a beautiful heritage valued village on the banks of kamandala naga river and about 7 kms on east of arni town in tiruvannamalai district, tamil nadu.

This temple is about 550 years old and constructed by then people lived in kalpoondi village. The people went to kasi those days has brought a lingam in the shape of salagramam and installed in kalpoondi temple and named the lingam as sri viswanatheeswarar and installed sri visalakshi ambal. The other deities in this temple are sri vinayagar, sri valli devasena sametha sri subramania swamy, sri dhakshinamurthy and nava grahas. Adjacent to this temple sridevi boodevi sametha sri veeraraghava swamy temple also contructed by the ancisstors of this village. |

These temples are worshipped by the village people for so many years and when the bramins of this village entirely migrated to so many places and the temple not maintained properly for about 40 years. In recent year 2007 sri k r gopalakrishnan, hony secretary of alaya kainkarya sath sangam has visited kalpoondi village and saw the condition of the temple,with the concent of the sangam and together with kalpoondi village people headed by sri m sundar, village president
Decided to renovate the entire temple.. |

The alaya kainkarya sath sangam headed with sri k r gopalakrishnan started the renovation work on 02nd february 2009 with non stop work for seven month completed the renovation work by august 2009. The kumbabhishegam of the temple was held in a grand manner during 27th august 2009 to 30th august 2009. Large number of devotees and native of kalpoondi village people from the villages near by,devotees from chennai and abroad participated in the grand kumbabhishegam fuction. Followed by the mandalabhishegam from 31st august to 14th october 2009 celebrated successfully. |
